Making a Basement Dry, Healthy, and Useable in Liberty, NY

A homeowner had been living in the house since 1948 and had been dealing with issues in the basement for 5 years. The homeowner contacted us because water was getting into the basement and they wanted our expert opinion and assistance on how to fix it.

Our appointment center representative got the homeowner on the schedule for a free estimate with our transformation specialist. A thorough inspection was completed, and our specialist came up with a solution that would address the homeowner’s concerns about the air quality, water coming in from the front and side, and flooding.

The homeowner agreed and in late May our production crew went to the home and got to work.

To waterproof the basement, our WaterGuard System was installed along the perimeter of the basement just below the concrete slab. Our TrenchDrain System was placed in the areas where WaterGuard could not go. Together these two interior drainage systems collect any water coming into the basement and transport it directly into the TripleSafe Sump Pump System we installed. This sump pump can handle pumping out thousands of gallons of water thanks to its two horsepower Zoeller cast iron pumps. We also installed the battery backup system, which helps to keep the sump pump running in the event of a power outage or tripped circuit. This sump pump truly puts any concerns about floods to rest.

On the basement walls, we used our CleanSpace Wall System. This plastic barrier prevents moisture and water from getting into the basement and helps funnel it directly into the WaterGuard System. It also does not support mold growth thanks to its built-in antimicrobial protection.

To keep the air feeling comfortable, we installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to keep the humidity levels under control. It can remove up to 100 pints of water per day and filters out particles even smaller than two microns in size – even smaller than a dust mite dropping or a mold spore.

Finally, we transformed the basement floor using our ThermalDry Elite Plank Flooring. It gives the same look as a regular wooden floor, except it will not rot or buckle if it encounters moisture. It can even make a basement floor up to ten degrees warmer because it creates a thermal break between itself and the concrete slab.

Now this homeowner’s basement is a dry, healthy, and polished looking space!
