A basement located in Stormville, NY was having minor water intrusion issues, and the homeowner was looking for a way to keep the water out. That is when the homeowner decided to contact our team here at The Basement Transformer. It was determined by our specialist that installing our SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System would be the most efficient solution to this problem. This system is designed specifically to keep the basement dry for extended periods of time, even if there is heavy water intrusion. It features a cast-iron Zoller 1/3 horsepower sump pump with the ability to discharge up to 2,220 gallons of water per hour at an 8-foot head out of your home. Our crew jackhammered a portion of the concrete floor to make room for our SuperSump to be installed in one corner of the basement. Once the job was done, this homeowner could experience peace of mind knowing water would make its way out of their basement.

Job Stories From Stormville, NY
Addressing Air Quality Concerns & Encapsulating a Crawl Space in Stormville, NY

A homeowner contacted us because both the homeowner and a fellow family member were concerned about the air quality in the home. A musty or moldy smell had been lingering upstairs and the crawl space underneath the house had been wreaking havoc for twenty years. The homeowner planned on living in the house for a few more years and wanted to address the concerns about the quality of air in order to live safely and comfortably. After meeting with the homeowner and investigating the crawl space, our specialist John proposed that we do a full encapsulation of the space and install a dehumidifier to keep the air dry.

The crew started by laying down a layer of a drainage matting first to enhance the longevity and durability of our CleanSpace Encapsulation System. Next, the CleanSpace Encapsulation System was placed over the top of the drainage matting and inside the crawl space. This 20-mil reinforced polymer liner acts as a vapor barrier for your crawl space that helps to prevent mold growth, wood rot, and pest infestations. With this liner in place, moisture has no place to thrive inside this crawl space. In addition to the CleanSpace Encapsulation System, we also installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This super-efficient dehumidifier uses the same amount of energy as a 40-pint dehumidifier to remove up to 100 pints of water from your crawl space air per day. It then takes that dry air and moves it all throughout your crawl space, drying the contents inside and eliminating that damp feeling. It can also filter particles out of the air even smaller than two microns in size, which means particles even smaller than mold spores or dust mite droppings. Pairing these two products together helped to address and solve the homeowner’s concerns about the air quality inside the house. The air inside your crawl space can impact the rest of your house, so keeping it dry is very important.

Once the job was completed, the homeowner could experience peace of mind knowing that air quality in the house was now improved and better than ever.

Stopping Water Flow From an Outer Entryway in Stormville, NY

A basement located in Stormville, NY had an outer entryway that was letting water into the basement. To stop this from happening, our transformation specialist proposed that we install our TrenchDrain Grated Drain Pipe in the homeowner’s basement. The grated opening of this drain pipe is made to accept the water that flows through the outer entryway and over the floor. Then it directs the water into both the sump pump and perimeter drainage system. It even features benefits such as being dent and crack resistant since it is made from reinforced plastic. The TrenchDrain also comes with a removable lid which allows for the clearance of debris such as dirt and leaves.

To go along with the TrenchDrain, our crew also installed our TrenchLock Drain Inserts since trench drains can sometimes let the air from the ground into your home. In order to block any unwanted ground air or gas from entering your basement, the TrenchLock Drain inserts are necessary. They allow the water to drain out without letting any air come up thanks to the spheres that create an airtight seal when there is no water. When water enters the TrenchDrain system the spheres float to allow the water to drain and sink back into place once it leaves.

Once this system was fully installed, the homeowner knew they had a great solution in place to prevent the water from flowing through the entryway and into the basement.
