Finished Basements by The Basement Transformer

A homeowner who lives in a lovely, light brown house contacted us because her basement was having some water issues. 

We booked her an appointment with our specialist Lukas, and he went and inspected her basement and gave her a free estimate of what it would cost to fix the issues. 

She expressed to Lukas that her goals were to make sure the basement stays dry, prevent mold growth, get the basement to feel warmer, and improve the overall quality of the air. 

She agreed to the proposed solution from Lukas and in late April our crew got to work and fixed her basement. 

First they began by jackhammering away at the concrete slab to make room for the interior drainage system known as the WaterGuard System. This sits above the foundation footing and rests in a bed of drainage stone to prevent it from becoming clogged. It sits against the basement walls to collect any water that may come seeping through. 

The crew also replaced the existing sump pump in the basement with our state-of-the-art TripleSafe Sump Pump System. This system, along with the battery backup system that was installed, provides the ulimate protection against floods because it can handle very large volumes of water. The WaterGuard System drains any water directly into the sump pump, where it gets discharged out and away from the home. 

To combat those leaky basment walls, we placed our CleanSpace Wall System over top. This extremely strong and durable barrier, prevents water vapor and moisture from passing through the foundation walls and into the basement. It also does not support mold growth because of its anti-mircobial protection that is intergrated into the liner itself. 

To keep the basement feeling warmer, we insulated the rim joists using foam insulation to prevent air leaks.

Finally, we installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifer to keep the humidity inside the basement under control and to eliminate those musty odors. 

Thanks to our team, this basement is now a dry, healthy, and worry-free environment!

It has large drain openings and a unique shape that makes it resistant to clogs. Its wall flange that extends 3/8” up your basement walls allows the water to make its way into the WaterGuard, which then gets directed into the sump pump we installed.

The TripleSafe Sump Pump System features three lines of defense against flooding. It has two cast-iron Zoeller sump pumps, set at different horsepower, capable of discharging thousands of gallons of water. The UltraSump Battery Backup System is the third line of defense that saves the day if either pump fails or if the power goes out. It can discharge up to 11,500 gallons of water or more on a fully charged battery and keeps your system running smoothly.

The Wall Restoration System is made of inorganic, waterproof materials that will not be affected by any leaks should they occur in the future. It can replace the bottom 32” of your drywall that suffered from water damage, and they also do not support mold growth either.

Once all these products were installed, the homeowner knew their basement was protected from floods and water intrusion.
