A homeowner in Middletown, NY had a tiny dirt crawl space in their house that they wanted to seal off from the exposed earth. Our specialist proposed covering the crawl space in our CleanSpace Encapsulation System. This 20-mil reinforced polymer liner comes with a 25-year warranty against rips and tears and acts as a vapor barrier inside your crawl space. Its multiple layers of plastic make it flexible and puncture resistant. With this system in place, moisture and water vapor can no longer make their way inside your crawl space. Underneath it, we also installed our drainage matting to give any water coming up through the dirt the ability to move around and to further increase the durability of the CleanSpace Encapsulation System. Once it was done being encapsulated, the homeowner was left with a dry and healthy crawl space!

A homeowner in Middletown, NY had a tiny crawl space underneath their home that needed to be sealed off from the earth. After taking a closer look at the crawl space in person, our transformation specialist proposed that we install our CleanSpace Encapsulation System over top of the crawl space. This product serves as barrier for your crawl space, preventing water vapor from finding its way in. It is made of 20-mil thick plastic, in which the different layers have their own characteristics of flexibility. Two layers of polyester cord reinforcement are used to put it all together, making this liner extremely durable. It also cannot be pulled off the wall or torn because of this design. We paired it with our drainage matting underneath as well to enhance the durability and longevity of the CleanSpace Encapsulation System. It also helps to form a permanent seal over crawl space floors. Together these two products really do make the perfect solution for keeping a crawl space dry and healthy!

Job Stories From Middletown, NY
Waterproofing and Repairing an Unstable Foundation in Middletown, NY

A homeowner was looking for a foundation repair professional to help assess the damage to his foundation and to fix it as well. He wanted to make sure the structural integrity of his walls were restored as well as the appearance. The homeowner also said that water was leaking from the area in need of repairs. After we reached out to him about his inquiry, we got him on the schedule for a free estimate with one of our specialists that knows a lot about foundation repair. Once our specialist was inside the home, he went over all the homeowner’s concerns and came up with solution that would solve this problem.

There were stair step cracks, a large crack running horizontally, and water stains all over the wall. The wall was also bowing outwards. It needed to be waterproofed and supported by something else.

The homeowner agreed to the proposed solution and our foreman Omar, and his team got to work in mid-July.

First the team began by waterproofing the walls using our CleanSpace Wall System. This extremely durable plastic barrier stops water vapor from passing through the foundation walls. Our WaterGuard System, which is an interior drainage system, was installed along the perimeter just below the concrete slab and resting on top of the foundation footing. It collects any water leaking through the walls using its built-in wall flange that extends up the wall at 3/8”. Our XL TrenchDrain System was also placed on the inside of an entrance to the space to collect any incoming water.

To support the failing walls and to transfer the load, we used our EverBrace Wall Restoration System. It’s made with corrugated steel panels that span between I-beams and contain components coated in zinc so they will not corrode. This created brand new walls directly in front of the old ones, so now there is no doubt that this foundation is stable again.

Once the job was done the homeowner could feel at ease knowing his foundation was now stable and sealed off from water intrusion.

Stopping Water from Coming into the Basement via an Outer Entryway in Middletown, NY

A homeowner located in Middletown, NY had stairs on the outside of their house that led to their basement. These stairs were allowing water to come in from the outside entryway and into the basement. The homeowner searched for a solution to this problem and found that our company could provide the expertise needed to put an end to this issue. After inspecting the basement, our specialist determined that our TrenchDrain Grated Drain Pipe needed to be installed by the stairs in order to receive any water that was making its way down those same stairs. While our team was in the middle of installing the TrenchDrain Grated Drain Pipe it started raining, and they saw first-hand just how much water was flowing down the stairs. This reinforced how much this homeowner truly needed this system installed in their basement.

This system features a grated opening that will collect any water that runs over the top of it. It will then take that water and allow it to flow into the perimeter drainage system we installed for this homeowner around the rest of the basement. The TrenchDrain Grated Drain Pipe also gets installed on the inside of your entryway so it will not freeze over in the wintertime. It even comes with a removable lid so you can clean any dirt or debris that may fall into the system over time. Once the TrenchDrain Grated Drain Pipe was installed, this homeowner no longer had to worry about their stairs allowing all that water to come into the basement. Our system was going to deal with it and ease the homeowner’s mind.

Solving Water Intrusion and Preventing Floods in Middletown, NY

A homeowner located in Middletown, NY was dealing with water intrusion in their basement and contacted our team to see how we could help. After an inspection of the basement was completed, our specialist determined that our WaterGuard System and TripleSafe Sump Pump System were needed. These two systems work hand in hand to tackle water intrusion and give the water a route to exit your home. It became even clearer that these products needed to be installed once our production crew started jackhammering on the concrete slab, only to reveal the water that was sitting underneath the surface.

The WaterGuard System is an interior drainage system that collects the water leaking through your walls and stops it from getting into the basement. The wall flange that is built into the WaterGuard and extends up your basement wall at 3/8” is responsible for collecting the water and directing it into the system. The WaterGuard System will then take the water it has collected and direct into the TripleSafe Sump Pump System to be transported out and away from your home. The TripleSafe Sump Pump also provides the ultimate protection against flooding with its three lines of defense. It is equipped with two cast iron Zoeller horsepower pumps that can discharge thousands of gallons of water from your home. The battery backup system that is attached will also keep the system running smoothly in the event of a power outage or tripped circuit.

Once these systems were in place, the homeowner could relax knowing their basement would now be a healthy and dry environment.

Protection Against Floods in Middletown, NY

·       A homeowner located in Middletown, NY was concerned about the fact that their basement would flood. They contacted our company to see how we could help prevent this from occurring in the future.

After conducting an inspection of the basement, our specialist determined that our TripleSafe Sump Pump System would provide the solution to this problem.

This patented system features three different modes of protection against flooding. It is equipped with two cast-iron Zoeller horsepower pumps that have the ability to discharge thousands of gallons of water from your home. The first pump is set at 1/3 horsepower and can discharge up to 2,220 gallons of water per hour at an 8-foot head. The secondary pump is set at 1/2 horsepower and can discharge an additional 3,900 gallons of water per hour at an 8-foot head.

The third line of defense is the UltraSump Battery Backup System which will keep the sump pump system running in the event of a power outage or pump failure. On a fully charged battery, it can discharge up to 11,500 gallons of water or more.

Once this system was installed, the homeowner was confident and reassured that their basement now had the ultimate form of protection against floods.

Waterproofing a Basement and Fighting Humidity in Middletown, NY

A homeowner in Middletown, NY was dealing with water intrusion and humidity issues in their basement. The paint on their concrete walls had fallen apart and chipped away in large sections, so it was clear that water was seeping through them. The homeowner decided to give our team at The Basement Transformer a call to see how we could help.

Our transformation specialist determined that the homeowner needed three key products to help solve the problems they were experiencing. Our production crew installed our WaterGuard Drainage System, TripleSafe Sump Pump System, and our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidier.

Installing the WaterGuard Drainage System and the pipes that connected to it required a lot of strategic jackhammering. The WaterGuard drainage system was installed against the concrete block wall to collect any water that comes through and then helps to direct that water into your sump pump system. The pipes connected to the WaterGuard along the perimeter and ran across different areas of the floor and helped the water funnel into the sump pump system as well.

The TripleSafe Sump Pump is a state-of-the-art system that features two cast-iron Zoeller horsepower pumps capable of discharging thousands of gallons of water from your basement. If either of the pumps fail or the power goes out, the UltraSump battery backup system we connected will take over and allows the pump to keep running as planned. On a fully charged battery, it can discharge up to 11,500 gallons of water or more!

Finally, the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to remove the moisture from the air and help it stay dry. This highly efficient dehumidier also includes an air filtration system, which can filter out particles smaller than two microns in size. It can remove 100 pints of water from your air and pushes dry air into and around your basement. We also made sure to connect the dehumidifier directly to the TripleSafe Sump Pump, eliminating the need for the homeowner to empty any buckets of water.

Once the job was done, this homeowner knew their basement had a functional waterproofing system and dry air in their basement!

Structural Repair for a Basement in Middletown, NY

A homeowner located in Middletown, NY contacted us because they had concerns about the structural integrity of their basement. They were worried that their temporary columns were no longer good enough to support the basement, so our specialist headed over to look at what was going on. It was determined during by our specialist that this homeowner needed our SmartJack System to help stabilize the basement again. There were clear signs of a structural issue, as cracks could be seen forming on the wall. The SmartJack system offers a permanent solution and can be adjusted at any point, should the walls or floors shift due to settling over time. They can support loads of 60,000 pounds or more and are constructed from galvanized steel, which means they are resistant to corrosion and will not rot like wooden beams. The above floor and walls can now be attempted to get lifted back towards a level position as well.

To keep the air dry and the humidity under control, the homeowner also opted to install a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier in their basement. This super-efficient dehumidifier is capable of removing 100 pints of water from the air and filters out the particles tinier than mold spores.

With both products in place, the homeowner knew their basement was safe, stable, and dry!
