Tackling A Nasty Crawl Space

If you have a nasty dirt crawl space, we can help you get it on the right track in four easy steps.

Tackling A Nasty Crawl Space - Image 1

Step 1: Find any existing water leakage and fix it.

·       We can look for any water that is pooling in the low areas within your crawl space. We can also spot waterlines or erosion patterns in the soil inside your crawl space where the water travels from the entry point to the low spot.

·       Installing our SmartSump Crawl Space Sump Pump System will stop the water from collecting and pooling inside your crawl space. Instead, this system will allow the water to be discharged from your home.

o   The SmartSump has several features including:

§  A sturdy liner

§  A floor drain located in the airtight lid

§  A trustworthy and reliable cast-iron Zoeller pump

§  A stand located underneath the pump

§  An alarm that will alert you in the event of pump failure or leakage

Step 2: Isolate the house from the earth completely.

·       To do this we must stop water vapor from coming up through the dirt and through the walls of your crawl space. We also must direct the water that seeps in through these locations over to your sump pump system.

·       Installing our CleanSpace Encapsulation System will help get this job done. This 20-mil plastic liner can be fitted to the shape of your crawl space and will prevent water from making its way through the dirt to the inside of your crawl space.

o   The CleanSpace Encapsulation System features the following:

§  Extreme durability and resistance to tears

§  Makes your crawl space safe to crawl on and store items

§  Features anti-microbial protection

Step 3: Seal the crawl space from the outside air.

·       We use our CleanSpace vent covers to seal off your crawl space and prevent outside air from coming in. This will help your crawl space stay dry and pest free. Our vent covers are plastic which means they will never rust or rot and get secured to the wall using fasteners.

·       We will also be sure to seal the rim joist and any open areas around your pipes and electrical wires.

Step 4: Install a dehumidifier to keep the crawlspace air dry.

·       Keeping your air dry after everything else has been installed is important. That’s why we offer our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This highly efficient dehumidifier can remove up to 100 pints of water from your air per day. It can also filter out particles smaller than a mold spore or dust mite dropping. It will wring your air dry and then circulate that air all throughout your crawl space, drying the contents inside.
