Waterproofing a Basement in Port Jervis, NY from Start to Finish
A couple of days of heavy rain this past July suddenly made this homeowner realize that they had water problems in their basement. Water started to come in through the foundation, creating a puddle at the base of the stairs. The homeowner knew that something was wrong and that this needed to be fixed, so they found our company and gave us a call to see how we could help.
The homeowner met with our transformation specialist, Stone, for a free estimate to determine the best course of action to solve this problem. After meeting with our specialist, the homeowner felt a lot better now that there was now a clear plan in place to deal with the problem. Stone took the time to carefully evaluate what needed to be done and educate the homeowner along the way.
On the day the job was set to begin, Danielle and her crew headed out to the home to install the products that would stop this from happening again. Danielle also found out that the homeowner’s front yard was sloped, which was contributing to the water flowing into the basement.

The full scope of the job included installing our WaterGuard and TrenchDrain Systems, the TripleSafe Sump Pump System, the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, and our CleanSpace Wall System as well.
There were even some things that the crew had to overcome in order to complete this job. Our team has the necessary skills it takes to get past these obstacles and deliver the promises we make to the homeowners that we help.
This homeowner’s basement had stone walls, which made it a bit harder for our crew to install our CleanSpace Wall System, since it requires using plastic drill-in fasteners. Danielle and her crew worked very carefully to find the flattest stones they could so that they would be able to drill through them. Spray foam in this case was also necessary to use all around the top of the CleanSpace Wall System to make sure it would adhere properly to the stone walls and stay put. The CleanSpace Wall System is a 100% waterproof plastic barrier that prevents water vapor from making its way through your foundation walls. It also is super durable and pliable, making it a great solution to cover unfinished stone walls.
It was also discovered that the original concrete floor was also poured at an uneven angle, so when installing our WaterGuard System, our team made sure to place it slightly higher on one end of the floor to help the system function properly. Our TrenchDrain System went in the areas where the WaterGuard System could not, such as places along the wall where objects could not be removed, like stairs for example. The TrenchDrain System would still be able to receive any water from the floor and direct it into the WaterGuard System. The WaterGuard System gets installed all along the perimeter of your basement and collects any water leaking through your walls using its built-in wall flange. Both of these interior drainage systems are designed to collect water and direct it into your sump pump system.
Once the water has been collected, it will get drained into the TripleSafe Sump Pump System we installed for this homeowner. This system provides the ultimate protection against floods thanks to its two cast-iron Zoeller horsepower pumps, and the UltraSump Battery Backup System. All three can discharge thousands of gallons of water out and away from your home!
The SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier is the finishing touch that will keep this basement feeling dry and free of humidity! This super-efficient dehumidifier can take up to 100 pints of water out of your air per day. It will then take that dry air and move it all around your basement, eliminating that damp feeling.
Once the job was finished the homeowner was thrilled with the outcome of the project and the work our crew did to solve this water problem.
