Before and after we installed our SmartJack system to provide support to their sagging floors and installed our CleanSpace wall system to prevent moisture from coming into the space through the walls.
A homeowner in Saugerties, NY called us to take care of their dirty crawl space that had been giving them issues for 12 years. This crawl space was wreaking havoc and causing the upper portion of the home to have a musty or moldy smell. To eliminate the problem, we encapsulated the crawl space using our CleanSpace Encapsulation System and installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The CleanSpace Encapsulation System serves as a barrier and seals off the crawl space from the earth, preventing water vapor from entering. The SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier takes up to 100 pints of water out of your crawl space air per day, making the air nice and dry, which causes that damp smell to go away.
This homeowner had just moved into their new house when they noticed something was visibly wrong with the crawl space. It appeared that an old waterproofing job had been done a long time ago, but it was no longer getting the job done. Moisture was very much an issue inside this area of the house. That’s why this homeowner in Rhinebeck, NY contacted The Basement Transformer to help them transform their crawlspace.
Our crew started by installing our drainage matting onto the floor before laying down the encapsulation barrier. This drainage matting gives water a way to move around underneath and evaporate on top of the mat if needed. It creates a permanent seal over top of the crawlspace floor, preventing water from coming inside.
The CleanSpace Encapsulation System was then installed on top of the drainage matting. It is a 20-mil reinforced polymer liner that helps to prevent mold growth, rotting wood, and pest infestations. Water intrusion is truly no match for this encapsulation system.
To keep the air dry & safe, we also installed our amazing SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. It can remove dust mites and mold spores, all while keeping the humidity levels under control. It will even shut off to conserve energy once the desired level of humidity has been reached.
This crawlspace was safe and could withstand moisture with no problems once our crew had completed the job!
